Bayamón

Founded in 1772, Bayamón was named after a Cacique Indian. Bayamón is also called “La Ciudad del Chicharrón” (Fried Pork Skin City) because of the production and distribution of chicharrón, a favorite Puerto Rican snack, which started in this town.
The city’s historic zone includes a plaza, church and mall. Today, with all its famous artists, museums and theaters, this is one of the most progressive cities in Puerto Rico.

Facilities include: volleyball and basketball courts, plenty of open areas, three swimming pools (some with water slides), and game room with pool tables. For all ages.
This park used to be part of Fort Buchanan. Now it is an excellent place to see an example of a karst formation (which are more typically found in the northwest).
This plaza has a mahogany tree that was planted by Dr. Agustín Stahl in 1905; it's one of the trees that the doctor brought from the Dominican Republic to be planted in Puerto Rico.
