Cayey
Major collection of paintings by Ramón Frade.

Cayey means lugar de las aguas (place of water) in the Indian language. The town is located in a fertile valley in the south of the Cordillera Central in La Sierra de Cayey. A number of rivers descend from the mountains in this area.
In the past, Cayey was an important coffee and tobacco center. Today, the University of Puerto Rico has a major campus in Cayey, featuring a number of avant-garde programs like the women's studies project (Projecto-Pro-mujer).

A collection including the legacy of the Puerto Rican painter Ramón Frade (1875-1954) and Puerto Rican Posters. The re-creation of the painter´s house- La Casa Frade - includes some of his famous work from 1897 through 1953 as well as his belongings. The Lorenzo Homar Gallery of Puerto Rican Poster presents temporary exhibitions that include the works of Lorenzo Homar, Rafael Tufiño, Antonio Martorell and others. Other attractions are an outdoor sculpture and the mosaic-decorated museum stairs.
